The power of the Internet and of real-life networks brought us the services of Dave Gray, a friend of Bruce's, who volunteered to haul the trailer to and from Farmington for us. He and his wife own Gray's Leathers at 34th & Nicollet in south Minneapolis, but are closing the store in preparation for a move overseas. Please check out their Web site at http://www.graysleather.com.
As our faithful readers know, in February the membership approved a plan to gather three or four times a year, for half a day or a day at a time, so as to practice the military drills, tasks on the muster list, and other useful skills, and celebrate with a meal together. Now’s our chance! On Saturday, June 11, beginning at ten in the morning, we are all invited to one of the favorite spots of our Lieutenant’s family, Long Lake Regional Park in Ramsey County, for the first mini-muster of 2011.
Things that Go Boom, even of the antique sort, are not permitted in the county park system, but we’ll be able to march with pikes and drill with swords, and with dummy muskets if they’re ready in time. Pending instructors, we will be starting fires with flint and steel, reviewing general safety procedures, erecting and striking canvas, and (to continue the fire theme) splitting wood with an axe and creating charcloth. As a special feature, Marty plans to teach us how to make ink in seventeenth-century fashion.
The park lies northwest of Interstates 35W and 694, at Old Highway 8 and County Road 96. See http://www.co.ramsey.mn.us/parks/parks/LongLake.htm and the map in this newsletter. Rich suggests we meet at the parking lot by the pavilion on the northern end, #1 on the shelter location map off the Web site above.
What shall we bring?
Historical attire is encouraged but not required. We can also hold a clothing swap if there’s interest. Our newsletter editor has pointed us to Barley John's Brewpub post-muster. Questions? Contact staff. Come out and play!
Several active members have still not paid their dues for the current year. You know who you are, and so does our Treasurer. He will be contacting you personally.
Dues are $20 for adults and families, $10 for students. Payments can be given to Bruce Yoder, our Treasurer, at meetings, drills or events; mailed to the PO box, or mailed directly to him at 4736 12th Ave S, Minneapolis, MN 55407.

Marty will not be able to haul the trailer. [The trailer was hauled by Dave Gray, a friend of Bruce.]
Margaret has the fair tickets.
Looks like Laura will be going. She can haul the trailer.
Sarah got some rate estimates from U-Haul. Mia, based on sad experience, noted that these quotes do not include various fees which significantly increase the actual cost.
If we take a van, we want something with a roof rack. In particular, we need to consider the tavern ridge pole, which is 16' long.
Some tents have broken side loops. Check at Farmington
Cleaning pike heads: Wire brush and steel wool.
Polishing armor: Brick dust and steel wool.
Serving new ropes: Need twine. David talked to Bruce about ordering it.
7 PM. Thursday, June 2. Location: Margaret's house. The Mini-muster and Tactical are of particular interest.

Hello all,
The following is a list of the dates of the events that are currently on the schedule for this year. The staff has met and decided to keep this running list of events in the newsletter to give you a chance to get an idea of what is going on this season as well as keep you updated to changes in the schedule.
The column titled status will include the following information.
Tentative- this means that an event organizer or Clann has expressed a strong enough interest in doing this event that it warrants reserving space on the calendar for the event.
Pending- this is the next stage of an event. This means that the Contracts Administrator has entered serious discussion about Clann doing an event but we are still not committed to the event. You should however if possible think about whether or not you may be able to attend this event.
Scheduled- this level means that the board and staff have approve the event and we are committed to providing manpower to making the event happen. When an event is assigned this level please let the HCF know as soon as possible if you can or can not attend this event.
Canceled- This means that for various reasons an scheduled event has been removed from the current season. We will try and give as much notice as we can prior to canceling an event.
If you have any questions about this, please feel free to contact staff regarding this matter
Thanks,
Your Staff
